Other suggestions
K&J suggestion
1st Semester - K-5 all schools study That Workshop Book
Part feel that the sessions should be optional, part feel that the sessions should be mandatory
3. Resources for the Bookrooms
4. Discuss structure of May Early Release Day
at Building level, or meet as a district
Talking Points (process, components, study group ideas, give-a-ways)
Meet at building level
what are you already successful at, what concerns/questions, go back to grade level meetings to talk about what this would look like
Talking points in a power point (Michele, Angie) Show the overall picture, break up in small groups in mixed grade levels, walk around stick post-it notes on sticky chart paper (what are you already doing in this type of model, what questions, what do you know you are going to need support with)
Separate letter from framework
5. Do we need a timeline of our work? See attachment
What time during the day do you see your staff participating in a study group?
3-4pm, lunch for some buildings (optional)
What are the roadblocks you and your colleagues will run into? Is there enough time built into your day to fully implement a reading and writing workshop?
Do we stick to district meeting days and building meeting days?
Building in blocks of times in intermediate (strings, band, DARE)
Schedule in general for uninterrupted time
Departmentalization - no time to do language arts (for example, 3 classes a day and get each class for 1 hour)
Mandatory vs. Optional
Part feel that the sessions should be optional, part feel that the sessions should be mandatory
If book group is optional, do you still get the book?
If it is mandatory, departmentalized teachers are all language arts teachers
Are IS participating? Can Missy buy the book?
Credit vs. no credit
At this point, we recommend credit for That Workshop Book, the rest is up for discussion
